Cheviot Hills, I find, are aptly named: hilly!
When I leave them, I stop back at the Beverly Hills Bike Shop for an improved route to the beach. There has to be a better way, and Esteban shows it to me. I ride home feeling optimistic.
Next day I want a break from Venice Blvd (and the complications of the beach). I decide instead to take a ride in Cheviot Hills, not far from the bike shop. I know how to get there now and want to explore this area which I’ve only experienced in the past in a car. Cheviot Hills, I find, are aptly named: hilly! The hills seem to come at intersections. They come all of a sudden, and they rise fast; but the inclines are short. And I find climbing them is fun and rewarding. L would love these hills! You can ride around this area, weaving up, down and around Cheviot’s hills indefinitely. They’re green and beautiful. The streets are generous and have no traffic to speak of. What a great place to train! On the way home (once I figure out what direction that is), I run into a trio of other cyclists and we fall into an immediate discussion of routes, biking – and bikes (flat bars, and flat pedals on a carbon fiber bike? OK with them! And me).
